Oktoberfest - October Fest

Oktoberfest is held in Munich each year during late September and to early October. It is probably the most famous events in Germany and it is the world's largest fair. About six million people attend Oktoberfest each year.

Oktoberfest traditionally takes place during the sixteen days up to and including the first Sunday in October. the schedule was modified in 1994 ro accomodate German Reunification Day. If the first Sunday in October falls on the 1st or 2nd, then the festival will go on until October 3 (German Unity Day). So, the festival is now 17 days long when the 1st Sunday is October 2 and 18 days when it is October 1.

One highlight during the event is the beautiful display of the brewery draft houses and wagons. Visitors can also  experience a wide variety of great food. Favorites are chicken, roast pork, grilled fish, and white sausage (weisswurst).
